Affirmative Defense Training Credit to be Extended in 2012
Your Pool Board of Directors has authorized an additional 5% in contribution credits when the Pool Administrator can identify and verify district members that do appropriate training to preserve their district’s affirmative defenses. Credit will be applied when training is accomplished in conjunction with your district not condoning the inappropriate behaviors of individuals acting outside the course and scope of their duties as a Board Member, supervisor, or district employee. The CSD Pool Online University (OLU) has been set up to accommodate the verification of this training.
Seven Free Courses are the Foundation
In looking at the diverse training issues needed at our member districts, we settled on seven subjects that constitute the largest dollar claims within our own membership experience. We found the critical areas of training to be- Sexual Harassment Prevention
- Sexual Harassment Prevention for Supervisors
- Preventing Discrimination
- New Employee Orientation
- Defensive Driving *
- Liability Training for Elected Officials
- Slips, Trips, and Falls *
These seven courses are being offered FREE of charge throughout the year to assist members in the financial cost of instituting this important training for your district. The asterisk (*) denotes courses that are also approved for OCPO Certification.
District Commitment to Annual Training
The CSD Pool Online University will track transcripts for everyone at your district when you utilize the OLU to register all your district employees and Board Members. The OLU will also be able to confirm, through employee transcripts maintained in the OLU system, when 80% of your employees and Board Members have completed one of the training courses annually with a passing score of 80% or better. Once this is accomplished, a 5% contribution credit will be applied January 1 of the next renewal. Training records will accrue until September 1 of each year to allow for the timely issuance of your renewal coverage documents, which begins annually in October.
Classroom Training Scheduler
The Pool is aware that many of our members already do annual classroom training covering many of theses same critical subjects. To enable those districts to receive credit for achieving the goals of the Pool, we instituted a Classroom Training Module within the CSD Pool OLU to help members:
- Qualify for 5% credit against the cost of your Public Entity Liability Coverage with the Pool
- Schedule these courses online through your designated District Administrator
- Track the attendance electronically through OLU electronic sign up
- Print Certificates of Completion for attendees
- View Transcripts individually by student, or as a group, by District Administrator
- Assign mandatory training through the District Administrator
- Input required student Attendance Records in the OLU by September 1 annually in order to qualify and receive contribution credit for the upcoming renewal
Your Pool Board has been proactively leveraging the financial success of its programs over the past 10 years to motivate every member to properly training all district employees, supervisors, and Board Members. Continued commitment of its financial resources will deliver widespread and effective results through this very efficient and accessible media enabling basic critical training for all special district members throughout the state.
