Safety Resources

Adam Johnsen the Pool's Safety Management Consultant will be providing loss prevention services to Pool Members. Adam will lead classes on specific safety and loss prevention issues as well as conducting a variety of safety evaluations. With Adam's experience developing and maintaining safety programs for a variety of disciplines he will be able to help districts develop best practices, procedures, and SOPs. He will also be participating and assisting districts in their safety committee meetings.

It has been determined that a compliance focused approach was not adequately addressing a number of employees not returning home after their shift. We now have a focused effort to instill organizational safety cultures within our membership. Focus on the safety committee through development and distribution of Best Practices for each type of district is our goal. Adam Johnsen, the Pool's Safety Management Consultant, is leading this initiative.

Awards Programs

The Colorado Special Districts Property and Liability Pool Safety Awards Programs recognizes member districts for safety programs and initiatives that allow them to provide a safer and more efficient safety culture, and honors individuals who have contributed to the success of their organization. These awards celebrate the ingenuity, creativity, and diversity of our members.

Safety District of the Year

The CSD Pool Administration will review nominations in July using standard evaluation features such as: impact for other districts, positive results, increased safety, cost savings, improved quality of service, innovation, and district need.

Previous Winners:

2017: Clifton Sanitation District

Over the past few years, many of our members have made impressive strides in bolstering safety for employees through the use of technology, collaboration, and policy. Going forward, we want to acknowledge hard-working districts for exemplifying and promoting a safety culture. This year, we recognize Clifton Sanitation District for their efforts. They have fostered a safety culture where everyone's voices are heard, and continue to demonstrate how safety comes first in all aspects of their organization.

Clifton has taken advantage of the Pool's resources by utilizing our safety management consultant and completing over 160 courses on TargetSolutions. Because of their small staff, this amount of time and commitment is extraordinary. Clifton Sanitation assigns one training course to every employee on a monthly basis, and then assigns additional courses as extra credit. With this kind of continued training, their team is so well-versed in workplace safety it has become second nature to observe best practices.

We look forward to sharing more news on our members and their exceptional commitment to safety for their employees and communities.
